Deb's Story

My Medilink Journey

In 2006 Deborah was diagnosed with bowel cancer and Lynch Syndrome.  She was informed she had a cancerous tumour, undergoing a colectomy and 6 months of Chemotherapy. With no family history of bowel cancer, Deborah was referred to a specialist team who discovered she also had Lynch Syndrome, a predisposition to certain cancers in an individual’s genetic makeup.  During a regular screen, a polyp was discovered as cancerous and due to Deborah living with Lynch Syndrome, the risk to her health was very high and Deborah was given the advice to have her bowel removed.

In her My Medilink video, Deborah shares with us how her Medilink® team goes above and beyond; having moved home and GPs several times, Deborah experienced a real fear of her stoma supplies arriving safely – but Medilink® took all of this worry away. Now Deborah tells anyone else she meets with a stoma about the benefits of Medilink®, and was delighted to hear a friend say they wish they knew about Medilink® sooner, the service they now receive is fantastic.
