Gemma's Story

My Medilink Journey

Prior to her stoma surgery, Gemma was working hard, always extremely active, and enjoying life. Then one evening she woke in excruciating pain and by the time an ambulance arrived, Gemma was in a state of advanced sepsis. Gemma was placed in an induced coma for 24 hours.

When she awoke from lifesaving surgery, she was informed a burst appendix had perforated her bowel and an ileostomy had been formed. Now a valued Brand Advocate for Salts Healthcare & Medilink®, Gemma recently shared her thoughts with us on her local Medilink^® team. She has been a member of Medilink^® since her surgery in 2023.

Referring to Medilink^® as her “second community”, Gemma feels that anyone she speaks to in the Brighton branch knows her personally - she simply has to give her first name. Receiving her stoma supplies in a discreet way along with text reminders; keeps her life simple and stress free.  She says “they know when I need my order before I do!”.
